Guatamala 2010

Our mission team will be traveling to Guatemala in April 2010. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to be Ambassadors for Christ. While there with Missionary Mike Black and his wife, we will be visiting a largely indigenous community, just North of Guatemala City. In addition to construction projects, ministering to women and children and home visitations, we are joining with Missionary Black in his project to supply shoes for the needy children in these rural areas.
     Without shoes, these children are susceptible to injury and various crippling and deadly diseases. Due to the present economic conditions, many parents are not able to provide shoes for all or any of their children. The fortunate few who are able to get shoes, often outgrow them and must wear them until they fall apart.
We need your help. We can make a difference in these children's lives. Shoes are a vital need, and one which most of us are blessed not to have to choose to do without. The shoes you give may be the only ones a child ever receives.
      Please join us in "Hope For Heeling" - our effort to provide 250 pairs of shoes to the needy children of Guatemala. You can drop off new or barely used children's shoes in the marked bins on Sundays, before or after the Worship Experiences. Or you can donate funds, which we will use to purchase the shoes before the trip. If you choose the latter option, please make check or money order payable to: DLC (Discover Life Church), Memo: Guatemala/Shoes.  The deadline for collection of shoes and funds is Sunday, April 4th.
